Who we are

The story of CEDRUS begins with the discontentment of a Bachelor student. Going through several internships and jobs during his graduation, founder Alexandre Checoli Choueiri found himself routinely immersed in environments highly susceptible to improvement, but inert in to achieve them, no matter how many consultants were hired. The solutions provided always ended up orbiting around miraculous excel spreadsheets, abstract and childish concepts of improvement and endless staff training. The discovery of a less subjective and more direct set of tools begins to ease the discontent: optimization.

Strongly grounded in mathematical foundations, optimization allows the modeling and resolution of countless practical problems in a straightforward manner, eliminating the dreaded subjectivity. Some decisions in the industrial context that can be addressed by optimization are enunciated as follows: how to sequence production orders on machines in a way that minimizes total production time? What is the best composition of components in a mixture in order to minimize purchasing costs? What should be the delivery route of products so as to minimize the total distance traveled?

Because these are complex solution methods, vendors usually tailor and deliver their applications to large organizations, leaving small and medium-sized companies adrift. CEDRUS was born during a doctoral course, precisely with the proposal of bringing these tools in an accessible and simplified way to small and medium-sized companies.

Initially, CEDRUS focuses on optimization problems of a logistical nature, these being routing and loading. Routing involves determining the sequence of deliveries or or pickups to be made, considering constraints such as time windows and vehicle types. Loading refers to the positioning of boxes inside vehicles/containers, determining how to organize the items in order to maximize the space used, also considering a set of constraints.

The flexibility of the optimization tools allows you to model a huge range of practical problems. If our solutions still don't yet fully solve your problem, please contact us to discuss a possibility. By understanding your problem, we can tailor a customized solution.
